In the first inning, he walked Doosan’s Yang Chan-yeol on a nine-pitch count and gave up a two-run homer to Kim Dae-hyun in the bottom of the first. After giving up a walk to Ahn Jae-seok and a single to Song Seung-hwan, he struck out Kim Moon-soo with runners on first and third to avoid further damage, but he ran out of steam in the first inning, throwing 28 pitches.

In the second inning, he gave up a double to Yang Chan-yeol over the right field fence and then walked Seo Ye-il to load the bases. After getting Kim Dae-hyun to ground out to end the inning with runners on first and second, Kim retired the side in order in the third on 10 pitches. Kim Min-hyuk, Ahn Jae-seok, and Song Seung-hwan were all induced by infield grounders.

However, they were unable to finish the fourth inning. After back-to-back singles by Kim Moon-soo and Jeon Min-jae, Park Min-joon singled to center field to load the bases. Yang Chan-yeol fouled out to third, but Seo Ye-il’s grounder to second was missed by Min-joon, leading to an unearned run.

With runners on first and second, Kim Seo-hyun was replaced by Kim Bum-joon. Kim Bum-jun gave up a single but finished the inning without allowing another run, raising Kim’s season ERA in the Futures League from 3.66 to 4.01.

Kim’s total pitch count for the day was 75, with 44 strikes and 31 balls. He threw a fastball (57) that topped out at 154 mph and averaged 149 mph, along with a curveball (17) and a changeup (1).
