“He’s a good player, but he should have strengthened other positions…” Tottenham’s regret

Tottenham have signed Arnaud Danzuma (25) on loan. However, Paul Robinson (43) from Tottenham insisted that he was not a necessary player.

Tottenham Hotspur said on the 25th (Korean time), “We are delighted to be able to rent Danzuma from Villarreal. The contract period is until the end of the 2022-23 season.” Danjuma was likely to go to Everton during the transfer market this winter. It is known that Danjuma even went through a medical test at Everton, but Tottenham went on a hijacking and succeeded.

Danjuma, who came from PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) youth, joined AFC Bournemouth (England) through NEC Nijmegen (Netherlands) and Club Bruges (Belgium). He made 15 appearances for Bournemouth in the 2019–20 season, but failed to increase his attacking points. Bournemouth were relegated to the English Championship (second division). In the 2020-21 season, he played 33 games, 15 goals and 7 assists in the championship, and scored 2 goals in 2 games in the promotion playoffs.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Danjuma moved to Villarreal. In the first season of his transfer, Danzuma scored 10 goals and 3 assists in 23 matches in the Spanish Primera Liga, and contributed to Villarreal’s semi-final advance to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with 6 goals and 1 assist. This season, he scored 6 goals in 17 official matches. 스포츠토토

Robinson opened up about signing Danzuma in an interview with the British media ‘Football Insider’. “Before signing Danjuma, he should have strengthened other positions in the team,” he said.

“Danzuma is a top-notch player. He showed his qualities at Villarreal and at Bournemouth. He has great talent, but I wouldn’t say he is hugely needed. I will compete with Song for a seat.”

Robinson insisted that Danjuma’s signing was a contract aimed at UCL. Tottenham, who advanced to the round of 16, face AC Milan. “Perhaps Tottenham have seized the opportunity to get a top player at a very good price. It could be a contract looking at a reopening UCL,” Robinson said.

Robinson has expressed his wish that Tottenham also sign other positions in the transfer window this winter. “I hope to try other positions in the squad as well. I would like to see a right wing-back and central defender sign up before the transfer window closes,” he said.
