Park Min-ji will attempt to defend her title on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour.
Park will compete in the KLPGA Tour’s fourth major of the season, the KB Financial Star Championship ($1.2 billion in prize money), at the par-72 Blackstone Golf Club in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. Park is the defending champion and will be looking to defend her title for the sixth time in her career.
Park ranks second on the Korean women’s golf all-time title defense list with eight career titles and three single-season titles (1982), both held by “legend” Koo Ok-hee. If she wins this tournament, she will tie Ok-hee Koo’s record for most title defenses in a single season. Park won her third straight title and second straight at the Celltrion Queens Masters and BC Card-Hankyung Ladies Cup in June. Park still has two more title defenses after the KB Financial Star Championship, at the Hite Jinro Championship and the SK Shielders-SK Telecom Championship, so she has a chance to set a new record.
Most importantly, she has been on a roll lately with three consecutive top-10 finishes.
